Regional Art Show 2020

The Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne is excited to host our virtual Boys & Girls Clubs of America Southwest Regional Art Show.

The show highlights the winning pieces of Fine Art and Photography created by Club members from our 8-state region throughout the year. Each category is organized by age (6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18), genre and award level.

The art was be judged by local judges, and the Club is incredibly thankful to the following individuals who helped us during these uncertain times; huge shout out to the Fine Arts judges Sara Wilson, Mike Beeman, Renee Piskorski and our Photography judges Lisa Hushbeck, Josh Eastman, Bridgette Zumbo. Winners at the regional show will go on to the national show where the art will be judged once more, and winners will be a part of the nationally-touring Boys & Girls Clubs of America Art Show.

Fine Art


Collage

Artwork is created using cut or ripped paper arranged and adhered on a 2- dimensional surface to create an image, in at least 95% of the work. All work be 2-dimensional.

Colored Pencil/Multi-colored

Artwork is created using pencil, pen and ink or marker in multiple colors in at least 95% of the work. All work must be 2-dimensional.

Mixed Media

Artwork is created by using multiple media in the same piece that may or may not be represented in the other categories, including all 3-dimensional pieces (which can be submitted in photograph form).

Monochromatic Drawing

Artwork in this category must be in one color tint. Artwork is created using pencil, pen and ink, etc in at least 95% o f the piece. All work must be 2-dimensional.

Oil/Acrylic

Artwork is created by using oil or acrylic based paint, in a least 95% of the piece. All work must be 2-dimensional.

Pastel

Artwork is created using chalk pastel, oil pastel, or charcoal in at least 95% of the piece. All work must be 2-dimensional.

Printmaking

Artwork is created using a printmaking process to produce a 2-dimensional work. All work in this category must be 2-dimensional.

Watercolor

Artwork is created by using tempura, pan-style, or tube water based paints in at least 95% of the work. Must be 2-dimensional.

Group Project

Artwork in this category may be created using any media of choice and is created by 2 or more artists. Works in this category created on stretched canvas or wood board do not require matting of frame. Works on other 2-dimensional surfaces must be matted. 3-dimensional or installation work should be submitted by photography. There is no age groups and only one submission per organization will be judged.

Nature/Surroundings

These photographs are created by one artist and depict our physical surrounding, whether it's natural beauty or the streets outside. These photographs may be modified to full color or grey scale.

Culture/Tradition

These photographs are created by one artist and depict the events, activities, stories and social gatherings that make up our world. These photographs might show the daily life of a family, or the traditions or emerging trends that define a group. These photographs may be modified to full color or grey scale.

Portraits

These photographs are created by one artist and are a representation of a person or people in which the facial expression is predominant, providing insight into personality, mood and style. These photographs may be modified to full color or grey scale.

Edit/Filter

These photographs are created by one artist who intentionally edits and applies filters to a photo to enhance or change the original image. All images must be taken by the artist. Pre-existing photographs may not be used. Photographer's choice on software.

Fashion/Design

These photographs are created by one artist and provide insight into personally and character utilizing fashion and style choices. These phot capture unique style and fashion trend of today.
